Tigh Grianan

igh Grianan, meaning “Sunny House”, is a six bedroom Victorian house originally dating from 1865 set in the beautiful town of Epsom in Surrey. The house has a large kitchen area ideal for our young people to get involved in the preparing of their meals, en-suite bedrooms and lots of communal lounge and conservatory areas as well as a beautiful sunroom for them to enjoy. The house has spacious front and back gardens and has views from the front to distant fields.
The location of the house benefits from being surrounded by wonderful countryside parks and rivers, with wooded areas, a golf course and various green open spaces including Horton Country Park, Epsom and Hogsmill nature reserves and Epsom water downs, so plenty of outside areas to enjoy exploring.
The house is situated minutes from the town centre and is easily accessible by public transport. There are cycle tracks and pathways for those that wish to get to places under their own steam.
There are various places of interest and plenty for our young people to get involved in, such as the local cinema, theatre, libraries, museums and, of course, sports and leisure centres.
There are many clubs available for our young people to take part in if they wish. Epsom benefits from a youth development service that runs youth centres and projects, a riding for the disabled association, Mencap also have a centre in Epsom and there is the North Surrey AFA SIC which is an organisation for providing activities for people with disabilities.
Epsom has access to local A&E facilities and a hospital as well as many GP surgeries, dentists and opticians. This ensures our young people can access anything they may need close by.
Staffing at Tigh Grianan is of an extremely high standard. All staff receive regular training that specialises in our resident’s needs and requirements and are trained at Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care. All staff have a six week induction with the help of a mentor to help ensure the standard of care we provide is consistent throughout. The high staffing level at Tigh Grianan enables our residents to partake in many every day activities such as trips to the cinema, bowling and getting involved in the running of the home as well as a seven day annual holiday that is organised with the input of the residents.
